Default Carving walking sticks and staves

    G'day all,
I was introduced to whittling about 7 years ago when I was really looking for a form of woodworking that I could do in the house. I needed to be within earshot of the person that I was caring for.

Anyway, I've really enjoyed it, but I don't meet very many whittlers (carving in which you hold your work rather than having it bolted or clamped). It doesn't appear to be very popular in Oz, which I think is a shame cause its so portable and versitile and inexpensive to get into.

So... any whittlers out there? (I've posted a few pics of some of my work)

I like them all, but my favourite is the old guy with the cap. A sea captain maybe?

Thanks guys. The 'Cap'n is actually modeled after the great Murray River Steamer captains that used to frequent our 'Mighty Murry' before it became the depressing environmental disaster we all enjoy today!

Ha ha ha, what a great answer Whittling. They have certainly made a mess of the Murray no doubt about it. What I find funny is, they all want to be patted on the back for their fine attempts at saving it.
    Keep up the great work.
