stylised bird - first attempt
My sister asked for something made from wood for Christmas, so I thought I would have a go at making a carved bird out of the only wood I've currently got available - a 50x50mm garden stake from Bunnings.
After working out a design that would fit, I roughed it out on the bandsaw, turned the plinth on the lathe then shaped it with a chisel and some rasps and files.
For a first attempt, I'm pretty happy with it. My daughters have now put in orders - the next being an owl, so there might be more to come.

Exactly the style of wood carving that I admire = minimalist. There lots of features which describe "bird." You did everything necessary.
I'm fond of 100x 100 mm x 4m wester red cedar fence posts.
