    Default Free blackwood

Just had to cut down a large old dead Blackwood, trunk about 1.3m across, the trunk itself is split in two (old damage). Ive managed to get two large pieces of timber (1.5m long) from it but there is heaps of what looks like good wood left. If anyone wants some they are welcome to it just need to come and collect, I'll even help cut it up, otherwise it'll just become firewood.

I might come and get it. I got another lot offered to me today too. Maybe I could bring a bit down to the turnaround to share.

BTW, someone also told me today that blackwood doesn't burn in a fireplace that well.

Its not great for burning but it's OK if really dry and it's the right price
Have been stripping away the rot and rubbish, have found a few termites at the edges but the deeper wood looks clear, nice grain features.

Well I dropped in to Iggy's place and had a look.

It is a fairly big log and will need a bit of time on a chainsaw to get some bits out of it. Most of the good stuff is in the main trunk, some of the upper section can be recovered but might be to far gone as this tree has been dead for some time.

    Attachment 118099 Attachment 118100 Attachment 118101

It is approximately a metre in diameter, so it's not just a matter of backing the car or trailer up to it and taking a few bits.

So we can either make a day of it and have a bit of a working bee on it, or I can pick it up and then process it back at my place which would mean I would need some funds to cover my cost
    Cheers

I'm too far away to be of any help processing it, but I was wondering, if there are any relatively straight branches of between 25 and 50 mm diameter and at least a meter long and up to 1.5 long, I sure could use them if they are no good to anyone else. I'd be glad to pay the shipping charges to get them to Waitpinga in SA.

Could someone there let me know if this is possible?

    Thanks,
    Doug
