but many of our wood species over here would laugh at a stroke of a 2 1/2

-well, it's not made for heavy work, that's for sure-I use it when the hard work is over, just for the finish; I've worked with olive root and bubinga, harder than that, ahd you are a stone carver.Anyway, my point was that its impossible to achieve with rotary tools the same clean, sharp finish as with chisels, when carving detail.Wide, smooth surfaces,easy to sand, are another story-but sometimes I just like some detail in my carving:
