    Default tamworth pig/puffin

    just messing about carving a cardigan stick and hiking pole .but its interesting
    the pig needs a few coats of varnish to finish it.
    The puffin ha a water buffalo collar on and textured and burnt, the second pic. has a50% mix of varnish an water an a thin wash of acrylic's for a base coat.al ready to insert its eyes and give it is final coat.Made from lie wood an mahogany

    finished painting the puffin.
    ben messing about with inks trying to get the colour right for the puffin as trying to stain he wood as would like to keep the grain showing much prefer the natural look. Acrylics seem a little harsh and bright but ended up using them

    Without bothering to find Puffin pictures for reference, I like the acrylics.
    My head tells me that there's a characteristic brightness to their appearance.
    East coast bird in Canada, nothing like them in the PacNW.

    they nest in there 100s on the Yorkshire coasts in the UK they use burrows as nests and they are very colourful and on the protected species list
