    Default Totem Carving Surface Textures

Jack Burgess carves the surface of a massive totem pole. The carving process alone took almost a full year to complete. The totem is carved from a Western Red Cedar, nearly flawless of knots. Locating a suitable naturally felled tree took over a year, then bidding on a section of a tree to procure something suitable for the design took months. With help from several wood brokers in the NW of Canada, I was finally able to secure this fine specimen. The totem was my first and the ensuing 12 months was a journey to say the least.

Hi Jack W Burgess, and welcome to the forum.
Just love the pieces you've shown and would love to see more...especially some WIP ( Work In Progress) pics if possible

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Yes, once I find the disks. I got married in May and subsequently rearranged our living space and storage. But I will locate and post images I think I have.

Great progress in just a year. Appears Tlingit/Haida in design and style.
Do the totems on the pole have any cultural value to your client?
Good to see the massive cutout in the back. . . that should stand for a long time.
