Default My Tribute to a great Artist,in Wood.

    Gday.
New member here, bit green on all of this, just thought you may like to see this Relief Carving that has taken approx 6 years picking at,off and on,depicting some of the Paintings of Tom Roberts, the Carving measures approx 14 foot long and 2foot 6 inches high by 2 inches thick of Huon Pine salvaged from Strathgordon Dam 8 yrs ago, superb timber to carve as I have been working with Huon Pine for the last 30 yrs, hope you find it interesting,90% was done with carpenters chisels and finished off with dremel grinder, and stained with various woodstains and finished with a clear coating.

Looks like a lovely piece of relief work. What a fantastic find in a piece of Huon Pine that size! I don't suppose you could post a few more photos of it taken a bit closer so we can have a look at the detail? Please?

Thanks Huon for presenting your artistry to us. Congratulations on such a great piece.
Where, will it be on display, because it is a piece which cannot be hidden from the public view.

unfortunatly terry this carving is going to England to be sold by the owner, who is interested more in what he can gain than the Art of it.

to be most likely bought by a person who does appreciate it

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Thank you underfoot.I hope it ends up somewhere appreciated for what it is and not what it is worth.

Well, in the end, worth is what somebody is prepared to pay for it. I assume you mean that you would like it to be enjoyed and not just treated as an investment. Which is what Underfoot was saying is the most logical outcome, even if middlemen (galleries ) are involved.

Looking forward to seeing the details and appreciating your skills.

    Hello Frank&Ernest.
Yes that is what it all boils down to in the end,but I certainly enjoyed carving it for the sake of Art,I have posted some close up's in my Album site here, hope you enjoy.
