Turkey "bridge" project
..so.. 24 wood carver/sculptors from 18 different countries just spent a month in Eskisehir Turkey..
building a wood sculpture for the town on the theme "bridge"...(I was the Australian representative)
.we had 14 days to agree on a design, construct, carve and install..8mtrs wide, 4mtrs high (about 1.5 tonnes)and 90 mtrs of carving in black pine
..good BIG fun..work space was in a 15th century mosque..
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

The "bridge" is installed outside for about 2 weeks then gets a permanent indoor spot..the environment is very cold and dry so it should be ok for a while.
..I spent most of the time building the steel substructure and the fixings..but I managed a few meters of carving towards the end of the project..
all the carvings were collaborative, with 5-6 people working on a piece at the same time...

Great thread!
Well done and lucky you.
Did you make the tangled chairs while you were over there?. I don't quite "get them" in this story.

..the chairs were just a self indulgence when we had 10 mins spare...nothing to do with the project...here's a 3 minute version of making the piece
