    Default A Viking with Attitude

I thought some of you might get a chuckle from this one.

I had a commission for a bust on a plinth. My discriptor was '.. a female viking with attitude'. A lot of ideas went through my head regarding the interpretation of the word 'attitude', but as this was for the girlfriend of my client, I decided to play it down.

I crossed a lot of, what for me was new territory making this one. First time for braided plaits. First time for horns fitted to helmet. Only the second go at a female face (cussedly subtle thing...).

When it was done I phoned him up to tell him and at that point he asked me to fit glasses to it!

    (sigh).......

Not sure I did the lady justice but at least she didn't throw it at my client when he gave it to her.

Be interested to hear what you think of this one... positive or otherwise.

The client may have wanted specs, but it does detract from your beautiful work.

She does have "attitude" in her look!

That's fantastic I know what you mean about the female face too, SO much harder than the male!

Thanks guys, I really sweated getting started on this one. Once begun it went easier than I had any right to expect. (Why do I take these impulsive commissions?)

I think the face is feminine enough that I have gotten away with it but it was a near thing. Still a lot learned and a little confidence built... that's good enough for me!
