Wall Fishing
Carrying on with the same concept as my last wall piece I've dedicated this one to fishing, something I enjoy doing when the opportunity arises.
The hand is Huon pine and wax, the fish is cedar and Danish oil.

Thanks RV & Underfoot, I only have smaller pieces of wood left at the moment so it works quite well with this concept. It is a lot of fun working out some different ideas for it.

Rob, given your talent, it is black news to read that you "don't have much wood left."
Do you have some solutions for that puzzle?

That's really cool Rob.
I like the idea a lot.
There is a sculptor called Claes Oldenburg who has done a similar work on a gigantic scale in a park in France. His piece is called "Buried Bicycle"..... check out a few shots here...http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rc...,d.dGI&cad=rja

RV, Thanks for the compliment and concern, I don't know about talented though I still consider myself as a novice in this game, still have a lot to learn. As for the wood situation an easy solution is money, seriously there's plenty of wood in WA but not much good carving wood. After having used Huon pine and white beech it's hard to switch to something else, I used to buy Jelutong from Carbatec but they don't sell wood anymore and I've never reallly been a big fan of the stuff anyway, Western red cedar I can get quite easily. I guess I'll have to save some money and get some wood sent from Tassie or the East. Would love to try some lime if I could get some I'm told that's good.
Artful bodger, Thanks for the link, that sculpture is awesome, gigantic is the right word, I like how they had to put the font wheel in a different part of the park to keep the scale.. Just thought I'd post this sculpture I saw when I was in Singapore a couple of weeks ago.

That's a very original concept Rob I like it very much.
Very sorry to hear you are short of a piece of decent carving wood, most folk have the wood but not the ideas , with you it's the other way around ! That's a rare & enviable situation, it's a pity thousands of miles separate us.
