Old West Marshal
This is an Old West Marshal lawman. He is about 225mm tall, carved from basswood, painted with acrylic paints.

Excellent ! he really has something about him.
How do you get your paint lines so sharp & crispy defined between different colours ?
Do you have primer underneath or use a knife cut or wood burnt line or what ?

Small brush along the outlines, careful strokes. When that color is dry, I put on the next one. Any overlap is covered over, again with a small brush. I don't have a wood burner. If I'm worried about bleed-over of a color, I usually seal with a water-based satin varnish first, diluted 1:1 with water. I also do light colors first, and dark last.

Well you sure make a neat & careful job of it .
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised , lord knows as wood carvers we are all are only too aware that 99% of carving IS being constantly meticulous & wide awake !

It's the tilt of his hat and the curl of his shoulders/back = he's old and tired.
The title, the hat and the body language being the first things I saw, didn't need to see his face.
Nice to watch your skills improve so quickly over the years.
