    Default Winged lion walking stick

G'day all, Had a commission from a fellow who's grandfather is a retiring Lutheran minister. His parish is called St. Marks and the heiraldic crest is a winged lion. He wanted a cane with a winged lion as a cap piece.

After a lot of searching, I couldn't find an existing pattern that would be suitable so I downloaded a bunch of photos of lion heads and developed one of my own.

The photos tell the story of the process. The lion is carved in Jelutong. The spacers are Kangaroo Thorn and Huon Pine and the shaft is Jarrah. Hope you like..

Very nice. That is the first lion I have seen done on a cane.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Thanks Artme. I thought of that but it was a commission piece for a retireing Lutheran minister. The heiraldic symbol it's design is taken from is not roaring either.

I may do another one without the wings just for fun and I'll probably make that one with 'bite'.
