Thread: Forum Videos on CD

Sort of
The videos are only available by using Azureus, not uTorrent.
However, there are a couple of exceptions to that rule and they concern the first couple we did. The Timber Hinge video is one of those exceptions. That torrent was posted on a torrent hosting website and uses a public tracker. The problem seems to be that the tracker goes offline regularly and makes downloading impossible. It will continue a download if it's been started when the tracker goes offline but won't let new peers find a seed.
That's why we changed the system to one where the torrent files didn't require a public tracker and didn't need to be uploaded to a public torrent hosting website. The only downside is that these torrents can only been 'seen'by using the same program which created them. in our case, Azureus.
To get around the problem of the public tracker for the Hinge video, I'll create a new torrent file for it and post it along side the original torrent file. All you need to do is load this new torrent into Azureus and it should start. I'll make sure I'm seeding it for you because nobody else would have it.
The alternative is to PM Groggy, get a link to his ftp server and download it that way. Or take up Big Shed's kind offer. If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Well I now have 100% of the hinge video downloaded and have begun to watch it. I was able to download about 80% last night (via uTorrent). If that is a result of your efforts, I thank you very much.
I'll have to check out the other available videos now and see exactly what the offerings are. I'll probably PM Groggy if there is something I'd like to have and use the FTP server.
Big Shed - Very kind of you to offer. Let me see (now that I am armed with current info) if I can download some of these in a timely manner. If that fails, I may take you up on your kind gesture.
Thanks guys.

No FTP here... How to get the CD's?
I'm writing from a drug study unit (donating my body to Science, bit by bit)
We've got Internet here (and faster than mine at home, too), but FTP's are blocked!
I need the CD's (DVD format is fine)... Can anyone send me a set, please? TIA.
(Yes, I'm happy to make two sets for other folks, where I'm going,
who tell me they'd like to have a set... free of charge.)
(adr removed; I can PM it to you if you can help)Last edited by ivi; 12th January 2007 at 02:54 PM. Reason: Add a bit of format flexibility & remove postal adr.

There's a copy of all the vids on a new DVD, including the very latest vids taken at Groggy's BBQ earlier this month, which aren't on the original CD being distributed.
Have a look at this thread:
https://www.woodworkforums.com/f101/newbies-wwf-vids-available-zed-43424
The process should be the same. If you receive a copy, we ask that you make a post offering to send another one on.If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Woe is me
I'd like to get a copy of the set of CDs Gumby, but can't figure out who's last on the list. I'm happy to make copies for the next person. Where do I go? I'm out here crying in the wilderness.
p.s. people always tell me where to go.dave
