Isnt there some way you could do it like adobe does? I mean a compressed zip file would be better than this experience!
I really was looking forward to seeing the shed wanderthrough and particularily the wooden hinge vids but I will just have to wait now and hope it comes out some other way
I maintain that your doin a good thing Grogy and Stuart and all others involved in setting it up brilliant... Im just one of those who will have to miss out only because it was just totally beyond me oooohhh gawd Im gonna go sob in me beer now!!Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

Hey Gumby (and others!) what can we expect coming up? Anything in the works, or are you waiting for content to arrive?
Anyone else got anything progressing? (Hopefully Zed's plane blade setting is still in process)"Clear, Ease Springs"

the planer blade setting vid was gunna be finished today (did the intro and the theory yesterday in the study) but its been raining all day and its too dark in the shed... the hammer of rain on the roof woulda affected the audio too.. probably tomorrow if the weather clears up a bit.

Thanks for reopening the vid list thread, Stuart.
I got much better download/upload ratios last night when downloading the hinge & Niel's vid. Must just be a numbers issue.
I recorded a shed tour this afternoon. What to do now? Send the Hi8 tape to you, Stuart?
Tomorrow, if I get time, I'll do a vid of how to mark and cut wood to length. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Other than that, i thought a quick shop tour of gumbyland may be on the cards. If you like cheap tools, don't miss this episode
It's really up to some others now as well. there must be lots of video cameras out there.
I'd love something on a bandsaw. Bandsaw boxes would be great. What about those smarties with a Domino having a crack at a mortising demo.
I'm hoping to get to Wood Borers for a quick hand plane tour and maybe a bit of a demo on handcutting mitred dovetails.
The possibilities are endless. Whatever anybody can do would be great. Don't be embarrassed, have a go.Last edited by Stuart; 15th August 2006 at 08:09 PM.

No bluddy dark siding - its an oxymoron to video a hand plane.
if you do make sure you get WB to at least turn on the lights in his WS...Zed

There is one benefit of sending in the original, or at least a full resolution AVI - I would like to put together a DVD of them, and therefore would like to keep the quality up as high as possible.
I'll pm you with an address.
BTW, download speeds - when plenty of people participate in the program, and allow what they download to seed to others (just by leaving the bit torrent program running), then yeah, you get the real benefit of bit torrents - optimised download rates. I'm seeding all the videos most of the time - I'm doing some digital video editing, so am offline at the moment, but will be on again overnight.
FWIW, I have just shot a (very quick) shop tour (60 seconds!) of my pig sty, one on the adaptions to the GMC lathe for pen turning, and mounting a normal chuck, and one on circle cutting on a bandsaw (which also ended up involving a mod I've done to that, and changing a blade. I didn't go into much info on blade changing, as I know someone was planning on doing a presentation specifically on that). Hope they come out ok - very unusual for me to be in front of the camera, rather than behind it "Clear, Ease Springs"

FTP site updated with 1, 2, 3 & 4 of Neil's videos plus Barton's Bedlam, Jointer & Thicknesser and the Timber Box hinge videos.
Please - DO NOT DOWNLOAD THEM ALL AT ONCE! One at a time works well, and allows two or three different IPs to download at once. When I see four or five going to the same IP I start to wonder what the "kick" button does
.
In case you are wondering, the server is simply a normal underpowered and overworked home PC, not a professional network server.

So if anyone out there has any consideration for their fellow 5% of ww, could you please make the file available on limwire....would be much appreciated.
One small step for you's, one giant leap for your fellow ww.
The ww files are legal and so is limwire.
What law breakers do whilst operation p2p is out of my control.
HJ0 Cheers I'm pleading but stopping short of begging. or maybe Gumby just doesn't like me.

I've got all but Neils videos downloaded and seeding. I can't get any seeds for Neils though, I don't use Azureus, its too temperemental for me. With the new setup, do I really really really need Azureus, if so I'll have to use the ftp from Groggy.
BTW I use torrents farly regularly, and have downloaded Gb's of stuff, I'm happy to act as a seed for all the videos for a while, but can't if I can't get them all.Boring signature time again!
