BTW I use torrents farly regularly, and have downloaded Gb's of stuff, I'm happy to act as a seed for all the videos for a while, but can't if I can't get them all.
Neil's Videos are not using a global tracker. We are using a decentralised tracker which keeps it from the rest of the interent. They can't get the torrent file unless they see this site. This is to cut down traffic on home computers like ours and keep within upload limits for those who have them. I'm on Bigpond cable and have 10Gig per month, inc uploads. I don't want to waste upload quota on anybody not connected to these forums. You can't easily tell where the peers are from.

So, we decided to use a more private way of doing things. It means that only Azureus will find the file to download. Other torrent programs will not. Sorry mate, but that's just the way it is at the moment. If you don't want to use Az, you'll have to ftp them from Groggy.

I don't mind putting the jointer/thicknesser video up on Limewire for you, as long as I'm not overloaded here doing torrents. I can't put the others up on there without permission of those who made them though. Sorry.

BTW, it's not a matter of liking or disliking anybody. It's just that we need to decide on a system which works for the majority. I'm aware that by making some decisions, I'll cop a blast or two but that's life.

I just downloaded Stu's new shop tour in minutes ! With 6 seeds it came through at 45kb/s, that's great ! Good effort Stu ! I loved your innovation and I'll have to incorporate it in my shed too - you come in and out through a door !! Unbelievable ! I must get one of those.

Yeah - took a lot of brainstorming before I figured that one out!

Can't remember what I was going to say there - got to the door, brain went numb, and I though (out loud) - wow- that's a door.... Ah well, the perils of doing it 'live', in one take.

As to downloading, we have an Az bit torrent, and an FTP. Down track there will probably be a DVD package that can do the rounds. Surely that is enough methods? For those who typically use a different bit torrent program, you can install another (Az) as well, if getting the Ubeaut videos is important to you.

My personal favourite would have to be the ever so brief appearance of the shop-dog!

    To answer both questions:

the latest lot have a .txt extension as there is only a few types of files that can be uploaded to this BB software. We add the .txt so we can upload the file, rather than having to zip it (which is also an accepted BB format), or emailing everyone who wants it.

So all you do when you get the .torrent file is rename it, by deleting the .txt off the end. You can rename the file as you download it, or download then rename - either works.

As to keeping the torrent file after completing the download - think you need it if you plan to keep sharing the file (which hopefully most people will do), but I'm not positive that the torrent file itself is needed for this or not - perhaps someone can experiment?

    Hi All

    I'm having problems downloading the last 4 files - Niel's part 2,3 & 4 and StuSanctuary.

They are saving as text files only. Why?

All the early downloads were fine.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers

Read Stewart's last post, and all is explained. Just remove the .txt off the end, and all will be well.

    Hi Chris

When I right click on the file, the 'save as' dialog box opens and in the file name in the save box already has deleted the txt extension eg Ubeat at Holmesglen Pt2(1).avi.torrent, with Text Document in the Save as type box

    ?

The txt extension is not deleted just not shown.
You need to turn off Hide extensions of known file types.

    Open Windows Explorer
On the menu bar, click on Tools then Folder Options then View
Un-check the box Hide extensions of known file types
    Click OK
The .txt extension will show in the save dialogue box where you can now delete it before saving.

I had the same. I alter the save as text document to all files and then delete the last bit of the file name (....rent) and retype it back. Seems to work for me.

BTW I'm seeding Neil's videos but there are no takers out there.

That's OK Pete, leave it seeding. If you aren't downloading, it just means that there are enough seeds for the number of peers at that moment. If more peers come online, then seeds will be used as required.

You hav been busy with that camera Stu, it's downloading now.

I have downloaded several of the videos and when I played them on WMP the sync between the sound and vision is quite marked, by the end of the file.

Is this to be expected or are there some settings that need adjusting?

Thanks to all concerned, in establishing and making these videos available to forum members.

As an aside, what are greenies - beside a big thumbs-up/good-one/well-done etc? Are they recorded for each recipient somehow , or are they an intuitive concept for encouragement and recognition of good deeds and work etc.

    Cheers

For seconds of amazement, install the 3D View plugin for Azureus. (Plugins>Installation Wizard)

Then click on 3D View in Plugins. Select the file name in the left pane and be amazed
