school project desk top after red coloured hardwood
eastern suburbs of Melbourne. making a desk top, desk shelve and table top for a school project that goes on a desk frame and table frame i'm also making. I'm doing year 12 product design and on a bit of a tight budget and was having troubles finding some timber.
my desk top is 1500mm x 450mm my desk shelve is 1500mm x 310mm and my table top is 1500mm x 300mm.
I'm after a hard red coloured timber that is thinker then 35mm. Any help will be documented and included in my folio that I'm doing for my project. thanks in advance

You don't say what equipment you have access to to prepare and glue up panels, but I assume it's the usual selection of jointing, thicknessing and clamping gear. There are any number of red eucalypt species available including Sydney Blue Gum, Red Stringbark and Forest Red Gum that meet your requirements. Not quite sure why you would want a finished thickness of 35mm, It's quite surprising how chunky a shelf or tabletop of even 25mm looks when finished.
As you're on a limited budget (aren't we all ) you should be scouring eBay and Gumtree for suitable material, you may need to consider rough sawn stock. If you are prepared to accept the 'faults' inherent in used timber then local building material recyclers should be on your list also. Used framing material is available in larger sections from time to time. If all else fails try these guys - https://uptons.net.au/ - they tend to have a range of timbers at very reasonable prices, may still be beyond your budget though. Members more local to your area may have some other suggestions. Whatever you end up buying try and get well seasoned material that is quarter sawn, it will make the build that much easier and a pleasing result more achievable.
Welcome to the forum and good luck with your build.
