    Default Dinning Table

    Hello, I have been very busy with wood work over the past months. Here is one of the results. As I am on a restricted budget I have been doing a lot of recycling of timber, everything from dressed pallet timber to cedar trim from demolisions and off cuts from a furniture maker.
    This is my table, just waiting the finishing touches. It is made from water resistant chipboard, rose wood edging strip with red cedar angle trim as final edging. the stretcher bar is red cedar, just need a trim arount the stretcher joints. The $2 coin inlay is the year date This was my second project with the guidance of Hamish at the Sheilas Shed at Kempsey.
    I am currently making a Drop Side table for my daughters balcony will post pic's soon with discription.

    Jocelyn, you should be very happy with that effort. Can achieve a lot with recycled timber.

    Default Yellow tongue good stuff!

    Yo ho ho and a you know what I mean,

    your Dining table is brilliant! The use of yellow tongue flooring prompts many projects I'm sure in the minds of those that lurk!
    Many a time I have been asked to build bookshelves from solid timber, lots of wood you know! My suggestion to the frugal is to use the almost indestructible yellow tongue, cuts the price down to zilch! Faced with whatever makes an interesting mix.
    Books you know cover most of the detail but I don't mind it anyway!

    Jocelyn, you have more balls than most of the blokes I know, Good onya!

    Sorry about the ball reference, I've been told off about that recently.

    Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments. I am presently making a drop side table from timber from the sides of an old dray. It has a single turned leg from a bed head. The base is an iron umbrella base!!!!!! Will post pics when it's finished

    Looks great Jocelyn! Chip borad hos got some great detaial up close. I have use OSB (oriented strand Board which looks like giant chip board ) to great effect in some shelves I have made. You see that somet9imes in shipping crates. Looking forward to seeing your drop sided table.

    That's great, I've often used clear painted chipboard, but not as you have, you've nailed it. As for recycled timber, go at it, 95% of what I use is recycled, nail holes and all. It adds character
