Default The 100 (not 1000) year old design - TV unit

As promised here are some pics of the almost finished TV unit I am buliding (with plenty of guidance from a mate) It is taken from a 100 year old design (not 1000 as previously typed) and is made from recycled hardwood and ply.

The skeleton is made from recycled aussie hardwood (old layby racks from a store in Geelong) and is either dowelled or biscuited All the panelling is 3mm structural ply rebated into the skeleton.

The top doors are on sliding hinges so they can slide back out of the way of the TV. The bottom doors on normal hinges.
All drawers are made from pine and the hardwood is simply glued to the front not only to look nice but it also overhangs the pine slightly which hits the inner frame stopping the drawer from going in too far.
The shelves in the two areas are also from hardwood biscuited together.

The whole thing was sanded to 1200 and tung oiled (3 coats and still going will apply 5)

I am looking for about 75mm black plain circular handles for the drawers and smaller ones for hte doors. Am going to Schotts during the week to have a look there.

Once done I have to sell it that may be the hardest part but such is life.

The things you learn these days from the internet. I didn't think they had TV's 100 years ago. Wonder what shows they used to watch.

By the way nice cabinet Rowan.
