From a cursory glance at a photo I would say they do fit. Festool is pretty good with backward compatibility.

That sucks. So even without exposure to the dust you get hayfever like symptoms 24/7?
Pretty much. It's better now that I'm out of that environment, but it's still there.

I was getting a post-nasal drip and was coughing on-off for literally years and took ages to figure out the problem.
Same, and a persistent dry throat. I used to wake up at least once a night for water.

[QUOTE]I was using nasal sprays for a very long time until I was able to take control over the symtoms. If your using nasonex (strongest over the counter spray) I found that chemist warehouse has a generic version which is much cheaper.

How are you controlling it now? I'm on Claratyne and Dymista nasal spray. It's an expensive prescription, but it works and is safe for long term use.

All the best it all and the new industry
    Thanks

I was lucky that mine was allergy and I could get desensitized for the things Im most allergic too. For the things which I have mild allergy too, if I get symptoms I use a nasal spray (nasonex/generic equiv). Before we were able to get ontop of it, I was using nasonex everyday, sometimes twice a day when the symptoms were bad (I dont think its good to use that stuff twice a day but I was desparate - I couldnt speak without doing a small cough every second-third word!).

I wish to take a moment to clarify something - the old Festool paper (let's take Granat for example) is 16 hole, not 17. Therefore, perhaps I misunderstand your question, and apologise if so.

I can certainly confirm that the 16 hole Festool paper works perfectly on a 48 hole (called Jetstream) sanding pad. All the original holes still line up, you just lose the extra 32 holes, and the extra extraction that the Jetstream offers (and may want to dial your extractor in as a result, perhaps better results might be achieve with less suction, depending on your particular surface/application).

    8+8+1=17

There is extraction through the centre hole.

If you look inside the centre hole on the pad you'll see some small holes running off to the side through the foam so the air can go around the bolt

I have the Metabo SXE450. I've never heard of the Mirka, but if it's the $889 one, the Metabo's considerably less than half that. Would have to look it up.

The Mirka is muuuuch smaller than the Metabo. It's the size and weight of a pneumatic ROS, but with a DC motor

wow that metabo isnt exactly cheap!

I read in one of the forums that it is a deros clone.

Is it the same pad as the Mirka? The outter holes look really small

Sorry I dont mean to highjack the discussion, i hope I'm still on topic.

I'm leaning towards the Metabo clone... I like the fact i can go to a B&M and actually handle it rather than ordering the Mirka online, and if something is wrong I can return it the same way. Also $60 bucks cheaper doesnt harm.

But is it the same thing though? Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it's probably a duck, right?

Werribee Power Tools also sells Mirka

If you Google "mirka sander site:au" you'll get all the australian websites
