    Default 2 panel door

    Can anybody give me some advice on the amount that can safely be removed from the top or bottom of a 2 panel internal door

    Depends on the type of door. Is it solid timber, mortise and tenon or dowelled? Is it a pressed panel door?

    Top and bottom rails on a hollow core door are usually around 30-35mm but i wouldn't cut more than 10mm each end. If you need to cut more than the rail width then cut right through the door and clean up the rail and glue and cramp it back in again.

    Thanks double.d I only need to cut off 10mm. Best I could tell it has a top rail of around of 35mm.
