Default $60 US per year, with free clue and sandpaper thrown in

 Was that community workshop on the ww channel a great idea, or have I been living under the house with the mushrooms to long. lol

Need approx 2.5 million us dollars to build and fit out, then I can start having real ww fun. Instead of wasting my time dreaming about a new and bigger shed, that I have no room for.

Sorry did not realise the ww channel was off limits in here lol.

Over in the states they have a community workshop for the locals. You pay $60 per year membership to join, the place looks more like a science lab it's so clean and spacious.

Like a library with no books, full of ww machinery even hand tools. Would be excellent for wwers who don't have there own shed or equipement at home etc.... or some relief for irate neighbours who are sick of throwing bricks over the fence.

Not like them ww clubs where someones always trying to be the boss...No thats the pigeon clubs.

Stop holding hands and look up the ww channel and you'll see what I mean lol

HJ0 Lot of bait coming my way for a newbie lol:eek:

Not so much off limits as not often frequented...

When you say they have a workshop in the States - it is a biggish kind of place, America . Whereabouts?

I saw it - pretty impressive. they run teaching sessions and if you aren't qualified, you can't use the machines. Amazing how much stuu they had - and how much floor space.

You wear a members card, so the instructors/staff can identify what your skill levels are. ie machines they have shown you how to operate safely.

Once your competent on a machine, your card is marks/punched so they know at a glance your not getting in over your head safety wise.

That is precisely the model we have discussed for our new club venture in Brissy. The process is that the instructors will grade members according to their level of skill with each machine and consequently the level of supervision required. I'll have a look at the site. I don't know if we'll be able to keep the cost that low, though...

    Default It's here in Sydney

Peter Stone's 'Your Workshop' in St Peters offers a similar facility, I see this as the way of the future as apartment dwellers want a creative outlet.

Not sure about other states, cities? Certainly some WW clubs have a communal workshop.

So do I, not to mention the trend to smaller block sizes and the number of people who are/will be moving to some form of communal or semi-communal living after they retire. I hope to be able to offer most of the facilities that would be useful and to have enough variety to keep people interested. It seems to me that the most important aspect of the lot (after safety) is social, since so many woodies tend to operate alone most of the time. With due deference and acknowledgement to Neil and the rest of the mob, I reckon this forum is a very good model for how that aspect should be handled - with a bloody big axe at the ready!
    Cheers,
    Craig
