Thread: 8" Sherwood jointer

I am watching this thread as it is a useful question. I don't know if there is anything if you do a search but there is a good chance. I do know in the ML-392 thread there is a link to a page about setting up jointers and thicknessers which deals with setting the blades correctly and the troubles that you can have with them.

I have just taken delivery of a surface grinder to sharpen my jointer blades. Does a great job. I also bought one of the twin bar blade adjusters with the 6 magnets; as the OEM adjuster had one of the legs just fall off.

Getting to the point of this thread. oem adjuster set blades OK; but the new bar unit set the blades slightly higher giving the dreaded snipe. Adjusted the outfeed table up slightly and problem solved.

Jointer has never cut so well from new.

I tried my first piece of jarrah the other day . It was rough sawn and as straight as a banana. Came out perfect. I set the out the same height as the blades and the infeed to 1/16 .
