Anybody know where to get this 9 ply baltic birch (picture)?
I'm trying to find this 9 ply, what I believe to be 3/4" baltic birch plywood but I'm not sure where it's sold. I usually go to Lowe's since it's closer but HD is here as well. The 1/2" bb plywood from Lowe's is 7 layers, the same thickness as in the picture. Their 3/4" bb is 7 layers as well, just thicker layers. I don't need a lot. Cost might suck some but I could see paying for shipping 2 1/4 sheets of this kind of bb if I had to.
Would the bb plywood HD carries be any different? Is this higher ply plywood referred to by a particular name?
Thanks.

mate this forum is based in Australia.
i suggest you try forums more suited to your locality
Lexington KY, brings back memories, I was touring your city, sate, country back in early 1980's had an old Dodge van and the motor decided to disintegrate somewhere down town. I hadnt changed the ownership over from buying it in LA so just grabbed our belongings and walked away.I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

It looks like 7 ply with a thinner veneer on the outer faces. Which technically IS 9-ply, but perhaps if you search for ¾” 7 ply with a decorative veneer?

I suspect that the material in your picture is not true baltic birch, base on ply count. 18mm baltic (closest size to 3/4", 1mm thinner than true 3/4") normally has 13 plies, rather than the nine you are seeking. Standard 3/4" thick US ply would be 7 ply. Given the situation in Ukraine, the sanctions applied against Russia, and the fact that the bulk of baltic birch is produced in Russia, true baltic birch may be be in short supply for some time.

I have purchased Baltic Birch plywood from Woodcraft.com. The Woodcraft franchise stores usually stock it too.

I found a video on youtube today which appears to be the source of the pic in the original post. I involves gluing up a blank in a sequence very much like that in the pic , then turning a vase with a V top from the blank. There is video of the maker slicing the ply and doing the glue up, but no mention of what ply is being used. If that is what you are trying to achieve, I would suggest using standard 18mm birch ply (13 ply) or 3/4 nominal normal BB ply (7 ply) depending on the way you want the plies to show up in the finished article. Provided that the material has no voids, surface finish would not be critical as the ply surface is not visible except for the upper ply at the top V.

Winner winner chicken dinner malb! Is that something said in Australia? Anyhow, yes that's where my picture came from. I didn't think the originator was gonna get back with me but he eventually did. Turns out it's 20mm European Beech. Since that costs an arm and a leg around my part of the woods I'm just gonna try to reproduce the look the best I can.
