Default acceptable/legal stud spaceing for 200mm hardieplank?

even in a non loadbearing wall situation ,eg gable, i have always set studs up at 450 spaceing... today i noticed on another site, someone setting them out at about 7-800 spaceing. surely even 600 is pushing it and likely to show gaps between the horizontal joins?...i'm asking here as i couldnt get any joy from the fixing specs at the james hardie site....russ

Up to 600mm is fine. My place has Hardiplank and has 600mm centres.
