Maybe squares are like most equipment these days: you need to spend a week tuning them before you can use them for their intended purpose?

I actually keep a set of cheap plastic drafting squares in the shed, because at $2.00 each they never go out of square and like the steel framing square are my usual references.

It seems every time I browse a woodwork magazine the articles all start with how to tune your........ pencil, square, vice, ......seems like you have to take the wiggles out of everything you buy these days...

But you CAN'T TAKE THE WIGGLES OUT OF THIS THREAD!!!

Default The originator of this thread solves the problem again

I proved my TRITON work centre is accurate.

    JUST LOOK AT THESE PICTURES.

I have got a system that now confirms if my combination square is still accurate, and its very cheap to produce.

John, Excellent, its worth checking from time to time, the saw and the square. Oh and if you didn't know the "Crown Slabs" Midge was talking about is Crown Lager not the well known Crown Tools. Apologies if you knew already.

I think I'm pretty much in the habit of measuring diagonals most of the time, just my way of doing it.

I made my point about safety but if the tablesaw is accurate its like Silent said, you whizz the timber through and bingo your into assembly mode. Thats what we have machines for, to do the same job faster and with ease.

I expect the stuff to come off a machine very close to perfect so I can get on with assembly/finishing whatever. I think there is a certain amount of satisfaction in setting up the mitre gauge, fence, tenoning jig, sled whatever cutting something, checking it and then cutting another 3, 8 ,11 whatever and you know that apart from your stuff ups they will all come out nigh on identical.
I like accuracy . Near enough aint good enough

    Cheers

Yes, those fiercesome English Fast bowlers. Matt The Bat will be in two minds alright.

He wont no wether to hit em for four or just smash them right out of the ground.
