Capral is actually the name of Al's goat. The name is derived from the Latin caper, a goat.

Go to the Gifkins site recommended by CZK. It worked for me. Rather than ripping your timber, use something else. I bought a piece of Karri decking, routed each piece and glued them together. Worked wonders. Couldn't ever find a left-hand ruler to slide in the slot though.

Or use the solid timber the way you were thinking of originally.

Just cut the bulk of the vertical slot on the table saw first so the T slot router bit will go through easily, cleaning up the sides at the same time as cutting the bottom slot.

2 passes on the sawbench and 1 pass with the router (in a table preferably)
    and you'll be a monkey's uncle

Just speculation cos i have never done this, but remove as much waste as you can with a striaght bit as previously suggested, then if theres a t-slot bit narrower than the one you want use that to remove more waste tehn work out to the one you need for the project. might help, might not, up to you
