advice on outdoor furniture build
I've been asked about a range of smaller outdoor furniture pieces from kwila/merbau decking offcuts. I've suggested a Jack and Jill setting as the first piece (mainly because I want for myself). Later pieces such as tables may involve lamination and edge joining.
After reading quite a few threads and looking at other's work with kwila/merbau, I have some questions for the forum.
Joinery for seat slats, seatback slats and tabletop slats.
Pocket screws, dowels and butt joints ?
Screwed and glued to supporting cleats ?
Suggestions for minimizing bleeding when the stuff eventually gets wet.
Pre-wet then dry the timber pieces or finished article before oiling ?
Any advice on glues and glueing in general ?
It's remotely possible the decking has been salvaged and recycled but it could be a mix of older and newer timbers. Keep in mind that the eventual owner will be a non-woody. Any and all ideas forum members can contribute will be appreciated.
