I am new into woodworking and redoing the inside of my shed (24 ft long x 16 ft wide) to make a work shop. I insulated all the outside walls and then put 1/2 inch 3 ply paneling up. I also partitioned the inside where 16 x 18 is my workshop and 16 x 8 is storage for garden, pool, and pond equipment.

One of the walls (18 ft long and 8 ft high) is going to be my primary place for my power tools (Dust Collector, drill press, disc and belt sander, router, skill saw, and ban saw). Another wall (an inside wall) approximately 12 ft wide and 8 ft high is where my table saw and miter saw will be place. These two walls are "L" shape.

I want to put a 10 or 12 inch shelf (or shelves) on these walls to hold tools and other accessories. I don't know the best way to attach them. I was thinking, in the back, along the wall attach to the plywood, I would use a 2 x 3 and then have the back of the shelf on top of that but I also need support on the front of the shelf. I don't know how to do this. Possibly, run supports to the ceiling, or an angle board from the bottom of the front of the shelf back to the plywood about 6 to 8 inched below the top of the shelf.

At this point I don't know if I want a single shelf or a bookcase type shelf. Any and all opinions and construction suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You
