Default Advice needed for new table saw

    Ok - I need advice
I'm thinking to buy *this table saw
    http://www.timbecon.com.au/details/1...able-8608.aspx
Its a Sherwood 10 inch job.
Seems pretty ok at the price (and looks like it would do a helluva job compared to my MK3)
Advice then: what would you's guy say or recommend here?
Am I spending my missus' money wisely? - or what?
any advice or discussion is appreciated

Jedo, also look at the TSC10HB and similar types, as in the Leda machines. Consider if you want to be able to use dado blades in the future, will this saw allow it? The sliding table doesn't look that strong. You really need to hit the streets and try a large number of machines. If you can, see if some forumites can offer theirs to look at - warts and all.

As for spending wisely, moving to a solid steel top is a good investment. There is a huge amount of discussion on the pros and cons of a lot of machines available here - do a few searches and you should find some great info. Good luck on the purchase!

For a decent slider, you need to pay a small fortune. I'm sorry if that disappoints you but its true.

You are better off buying a good table saw and building a sled (not hard). The slider pictured is not big enough to do full sheets anyway.

For the money you cannot beat a TSC 10 and a sled or the Jet supersaw and a sled. You wont go wrong with those two saws.

i have the TSC 10HB, and i am ver happy with it. its an excellant machince, and great value for money.
I guess the question is whether u really need a sliding table.
U can always adapt a triton sliding table to the 10HB or get the proper sliding table for it.

Thanks George - I had a look at this on the Timbecon site...
    Wow - and only $1299...
So that narrows my choice down to this or the TS250. . .
The MJ is abt $300 cheaper - so there's the freight costs.
    Decisions... Decisions...

    Thankyou Inferno
I had a good look at the TSC... $1600 also the MJ $1300 (both at Timbecon). The TSC looks a good rugged worker...
As I said I'm saving up - and I'll reach 1200 a long way before I reach 1600... And it seems the freight for either of these babies will be abt $300 cos I live way way out...
Looks like the MJ might win - also it has a sliding table which is very handy
Thanks very much to all for your info.

George - will the MJ take a dado blade - if so, to what thickness?
Not that I've ever used a dado before - lol

Thanks Dazzler - so would you choose the TSC over the MJ 235 (which has the sliding table?
