A newcomer to woodworking wouldn't go far wrong with the TS as a starting point at that price. Can't be bad value at $199
Reality is no background music.

I love Aldi, but I don't think you can buy a table saw for that amount and have anything that would even nearly meet DIY standards. The aluminium must be worth 3/4 of that There's a reason good tools cost what they do I think. Could be good for ripping down things on site I suppose. One of the good things about Aldi though is that if it is in any way crappy or defective, pretty sure you can just bring it back.
What I'd really like to know is what a 'laser saw' is. I think I need one for the next bank vault job I do. Or for removing all my unwanted body hair. Maybe it is worth the money!

Its got a deeper cut than my triton and you can angle the blade. I think it looks pretty good for a first timer to get into the hobby. At the end of the day, could it be much worse than anything Ozito or the brands that Kmart and the likes sell?
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Although I tend not to buy my power tools from Aldi, I reckon the ones on offer there are certainly good enough for a beginner. My first table saw was similar but without the extension wings and dust extraction. It was 10" and 1600W; I still have it stored under a workbench waiting for a shed big enough to actually have all my toys out. With a home made cross cut sled it worked fine and I made half of my daughter bedroom furniture with it.
I'll often buy a cheap-#### version of a new tool just to see how I'll get on with it; if I like it I'll get a better quality one when that one blows up providing that I can see how the better quality improves my work. Except belt sanders; I've used Elu, Makita and AEG. I bought Ozito because I hardly use it anyway and I couldn't get a better or substantially quicker finish with the more expensive brands.
