    Default Alternative to American Cherry?

    Hey guys

    I was wondering if I could get some some QUICK help.

    Im looking for a timber that is similar to American Cherry. The cherry is just too expensive for me so i need to look for an alternative.

    Im looking for similar colour and workability of cherry. I was thinking of using NG rosewood, but it seems to greatly differ in colour between boards. Would you reccommend NG rosewood? or is there a better alternative.

    You might consider myrtle. Nice colour and good to work with.

    Possibly, you go at this Bass-Akwards. What do you wish to build?

    1. You have hundreds and hundreds of fantastic hardwoods when compared with the North American woods. You guys make me sick.
    2. Pick a color. How many different species is that?
    3. Buy some wood, make elegant, book-matched faces. Radial cut/matched faces.
    Have you ever seen spiral-cut veneer?
    4. Quite frankly, cherry is fine for wood-block printing but for exposure as furnishings EEEEEEUUUUH!
    5. I'd rather whack an apple tree.
