    Default Angelo Angle Finder Review

    Hi all,

Just finished a review of the Angelo Angle Finder. Quite a nice complimentary tool to the various digital bevel/tilt boxes now on the market.

    Hope it helps!

Interesting tool Dean, thanks for the write up. (Pity they didn't put a small magnet on it).

EDIT: Worth having a snoop around the manufacturers website too. Link provided from Dean's page.

Good point. A magnet would make things easier, although it works OK without one.

It's an OEM product direct from the manufacturer, so I don't have availability details or price yet. They just wanted me to take a look at it and give my opinion etc

Keep an eye on their website for details upcoming though if you are interested in it.

That sounds like a reasonable price, $59.

I have been using digital vernier for some time and like the big numbers. Much easier than counting narrow lines on a metal rule.

Very impressed with the accuracy found by Dean.

Is this better value than the Wixey angle finder?

Kinda slightly different products. Wixey is more for bevel angles... While you can use the Angelo for setting table saw blades etc, the Wixey makes it much easier and quicker to do so as it only needs to reference one angle (if that makes sense). Also the Wixey is not really designed to measure mitre angles like the Angelo is. Solution... Get both

Make sure you check how big these are - 230mm (I foot long).

They are as small as they seem, at first glance I thought about 100-150mm.

Also, the Angelo version at about $59 is a more fully featured item than others that appear on eBay starting at $20 (plus $24 shipping). The other versions are simple angle readers with no zero set or lock for the angle arm.

This is a very timely thread. I've been considering getting the Veritas sliding bevel http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...=1,42936,50298 because it is reported to have a good locking mechanism. It looks nice and sturdy.

I'd also need the bevel setter. http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ind...190_4800_19816

I've never used such tools before and I won't be using them that often. I expect I would use them mainly for measuring and marking angles on timber. Do you think the Angelo would produce more or less swearing in my workshop than the Veritas set up?

    I have a 70mm big toe

You're right of course, 230mm = 9". What I was trying to get across is that these are bigger than they seem, at least bigger than I expected anyway.

Have had a look around the internet and found the Lee Valley Digital Angle Finder.
    http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...58801&cat=1,51

Looks very, very similar to the Angelo. They had a promotion on and were selling them for US$20. They sold out but will be getting more in a few months.
