Has anyone used Aniseed Tree wood.
Several years ago a came upon a tree in the Melbourne Botanic gardens - Backhousia anisata. Like its cousin B citriodora (lemon myrtle) its very attractive and wonderful scent to the foliage.
I always thought that it must be a cold climate plant as it was doing well in Melbourne and never seen it elswhere but have discovered to come from the Northern Rivers area of NSW. Its common names are Aniseed Tree or Ringwood.
Anyone used this timber or its cousin? Does the timber smell as good as the foliage? Photos would be good.

Never heard of the timber, but you may like to know that aniseed oil is an effective aphrodisiac for dogs.
When I was a young bloke, it was a bit of fun to put a dab of aniseed oil on the cuff of a blokes overalls while they were hanging up in the change room. The first dog that got a sniff of them while he was wearing them immediately fell in love with his leg.

Suppost to attract fish as well. I gave it a try when I used to live on the reef and came to the conclussion that it was an old wives tale all it did was make your tackle box stink, I couldn't remember having much trouble with dogs, there weren't too many around thankfully!
