Hi guys,
I have been reading the forum for a few years now as I have been planning my retirement and, like many of you I guess, my desire to spend a bit of time playing in "the shed". I retired around 12 months ago and have spent much of my time buying what gear I could afford and attending auctions etc grabbing "bargains". Isn't it a crying shame the number of woodworking businesses that close down these days .
This was all part of a cunning plan because I was filling the garage up quite nicely with wood and Triton gear etc so it wasn't long before SWMBO said "I suppose you'd better build yourself a shed to put all that junk in so I can get the car back in the garage".
So the shed's done. Ive joined up and the first project is to fit it out. I've drawn a lot of inspiration and ideas from what I've read and seen on here over the past years so I thought I'd post some pics as I go and perhaps someone will find them interesting. Woodworking is not my only interest, I am doing a welding course at tech as I want to build myself a new trailer so the shed will be muti purpose. I am also into 4wding, trailbike riding and camping.
Cheers

Welcome I agree saw dust and sparks but hey when you have limited space it has to be all in, just be carefull that the woodshaving's dont ignite that are in your pockets.
Now as to your avatar not a good look needs more blood.

One of the first few things i mounted on the wall of my shed was a couple of fire extinguishers, one for electrical fires and one water extinguisher.....but then with your background, i bet you have already got that sorted!

A hearty 'aye' to BOTH sentiments!
Got 3 and a bit years to go, but also a recently-acquired mortgage so might have to hang in a bit longer til it's cleared up. But I'm not as patient as you, Bob - the shed was the first major item to go in after the move. I want to be able to go straight out after brekky and get stuck into a few ongoing projects with renewed gusto when the great day comes!
Happy welding & sawdust making. Just make sure there's a few coldies in the fridge when the mates have to come around for the fire.

well lads, it just keeps getting better. I brought up the safety aspects of combining welding and woodworking. Fortunately my wife worked in the office of Berryman furniture for over 20 yrs and is well aware of the hazards of build up of saw dust, dust explosions etc etc. So it looks like I may get to use the garage (or part of) for such activities.
In the name of safety of course.

G'day Bob K,
Welcome to the "fun factory" - great to see that you have made your membership of the forum official.
When I retired in 2005 I didn't tell people I had retired as some seem to think that that means you are beyond it or have nothing to do. When asked what I do I simply tell them that "I work a 3 day week - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." Don't really know how I ever had the time to go to work or put in the hours I did.
So enjoy the future.
Regards,
Bob
