Anyone know where to get appearance grade plywood at a decent price?
Hi Guys,
Just got a quote for a single sheet of 2400 x 1200 x 19 mm appearance grade A/A plywood that was over $200 plus GST!!!!!! Nothing fancy, just hoop pine!
As I am going to be needing more than one sheet, can anyone help point me in the direction of a reasonably priced plywood outlet somewhere in or near Sydney?
Any help would be greatly appreciated by both myself and my wallet.
Thanks in advance
Les

Birch Ply
Hi Les,
I always use birch ply for appearance jobs. It's invariably classier looking than any of the pines, including hoop. Plywood Services Pty Ltd are the wholesale suppliers in Sydney. They have A-bond (waterproof) in A-grade and B-grade, but they don't sell direct. See Plywood Services Pty Ltd - Plywood, Plywood Services, Panel, Timber, MDF, Particleboard, Bracing, Structural, Masonite, Hardboard, Ply, OSB, EWPAA, Shadowclad, Plyfloor, Floorwood, Structaflor, Termiflor, Austral, Boral, Carter, Hoop, Slash, Hardwood if you want to contact them for your nearest retailer. I order and pay for it through Richard's Plywood and Panel Products - ph. 9673 2399 or Mob. 0415 682 030 in St Mary's, but pick it up from Plywood Services (also in St Marys), as Richards don't actually keep it in stock. I like doing this, as it allows me to pick out the best sheets. The 16mm cost me $115.00 a sheet and the 6mm was $56.00 last time I bought some, which was earlier this year.
Cheers,
Tony

Plywood.....ummmmmmm
Hi Tony,
Thank you so very much for your information.
I just could not afford to buy one sheet at over $200 + G.S.T. each!
The only other alternative was to buy C/D grade, fill all the knots and grain and then paint it!
A hanging offence I think.
But I will try these guys out, they sound very reasonable.
Thanks again for your help.

Decent Plywood in Sydney
Hi Les,
Another suggestion would be DMK Forest Products @ Brookvale. They bring in Birch Plywood from Finland great quality & have other panel products & plywoods too. And best of all they sell to public also. www.dmkforestproducts.com.au
Hope this helps

Plywood
Hi Michael,
Thank you for giving me that info. I'll certainly give them a try!
Just recovering at the mo from hernia surgery. I really can't recommend it as a hobby!
So I may not do anything until early new year.
Again, thanks very much for taking the time to tell me.
Kindest regards,
Les
