Apron
Gidday
As I am tired of dusting myself down as I leave my workshop I thought I would invest in a suitable woodworkers apron, hopefully with all the right pockets in the best places (or best pockets in the right places). I had a search at the better known online suppliers but there doesn't seem to be a suitable one locally (in Oz). Rocklea have one that looks just right and at about Au$45 I guess thats OK but its another Au$45 to get it here. Do I get SWMBO to machine one up?
What do most of you guys on the Forum use? Is there anything local? Hope there is, please let me know.
No comments needed about getting a better DC.
Thanks
Ray

Timbcon have a light long sleeved zip up dust coat that is fairly long.
Woodturner's Smock - WTS-16 $39.90 Inc GST
It is light enought not to be too hot in the tropics.
It is good, keeps the dust off & stops shaving from going into pockets & down the neck of your shirt.
Only grumble is that it doesn't have a place to stick a pen/pencil.Cliff.

I've often toyed with the idea of wearing overalls - too hot, a coat - similar to the one doctors/lab techs sometimes wear - too hot, doesn't allow for arm movement, or a leather apron.
I think the leather apron would be better for me. I've priced them here, around the $100 mark and up. I think I'll suss out some leather and make one for myself, one day....
cheers

Pockets on a woodies apron fill up with sadust and shavings.
Leather is good but heavy - canvas, drill or denim are good materials

You could wear one of those Playboy BBQ aprons like Al wears. And what's worn under the kilt? Nothing! It's all in perfect working order!

Finding nice red leather without paying too much for it is the fun thing....
So, leather is good, but canvas, drill or denim are good too. Decisions decisions...
hijack off
Razor, what would you want to put in the apron pockets - eg pencil, torch, small ruler?
If pockets have a tendenancy to fill up with shavings - good point - would a pocket at the top of the apron work? now surely that wouldn't be inclined to fill up with shavings unless you got the aim right if using a lathe perhaps
Cheers

A simple loop or button hole is good enough to hold a clutch pencil with a clip.
I've also seen an elastic loop stitched on sideways to hold an old fashioned pencil.Cliff.
