Yes that 's another option.
One other of my dads old vices is a Carter non-QR.
Maybe I just need to get use to the added exercise of spinning the vice Ad infinutum !

Just to clarify, I wasn't adding an extra turn to the coil. By over extending the spring out of the vise, when released the coil is a little tighter in its natural state.
