Armot tool pocket hole system
Just watched this video Armor Tool Pocket Hole Jig Review - YouTube and a few others and have become very interested. I have been using a cheap pocket hole system for the last few years a lot so I thought I'd upgrade to something like the Kreg K5 until I saw this.
Anyone got one of these and got a comment on its effectiveness?

It's just a Kreg rip off and he got it all for free so don't rely to heavily on his assessment. Personally I'd stick with the Kreg (I have a K3) but I have no idea what the rip off is worth. It might be cheap enough to give it a go.
I think there are a couple of Aussie retailers that sell a cheap alternative that will probably do the job.
Edit: I just googled it and Timbecon sell the Armor gear. I think the equivalent Kreg may be cheaper. The screws seem to be pretty much the same priceThose were the droids I was looking for.

My interest in the Armor tool jig is not solely based on that one video and I have seen it at Timbecon. Also I have used/borrowed the Kreg jig multiple times and its only problem is that the block has stepped presets at 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" etc and doesn't allow for different undersized thicknesses eg 12mm, 16mm, 18mm etc. Setting the collar on the drill bit is sometimes done inelegantly with a 10c coin as a result. Using the 3/4" setting with 18mm timber can sometimes see the screw coming out the other side of the joining piece or not going far enough. So that collar setting is critical. What the Armor tool does that I find very cool is that the block and collar on the drill bit is set automatically based on the thickness of the wood. It is infinitely variable. Just simply lock the timber in place and all adjustments are made for you. So yes it is a Kreg copy with a much improved and simpler mechanism for adjusting the block height and collar.
I'd love to hear from someone who actually owns it.

I have one. Bought from Timbecon when it was on special. Very happy with it - does what it says on the box.
I was using the basic kreg (?K3) previously, and wanted to upgrade. At the time I bought you seemed to get more for your $ than the equivalent Kreg system (possibly the K5?).
Colour coded screws are a bit gimmicky - I've got a pile of kreg screws that I've kept using without issues.
Auto adjust is great, as is the height of the jig being the same as commonly sized lumbar, so you don't need anything special when working on long bits.
If you have any specific Q's I'd be happy to try to answer them.

Timbecon have a substantial special on all Armortool until midnight 21/03. Up to 35% off - and the pocket hole jig is included.
If you were considering one, now is the time: https://www.timbecon.com.au/brands/armor-tool

I bought one of these last year and very happy with it, in fact I bought a Kreg K5 first and then sold it. Kreg's latest plasticky version isn't as good

The Armor jig is superior to the K5 so it will certainly be a big improvement to the K4 with auto adjust for different thicknesses being the most noticeable improvement as well as the automatic stop collar and block height adjustments. If you do a lot of pocket holing then I would highly recommend this upgrade.

I am away from home.
If you check the wanted section I asked for sources for cheap pocket hole screws a while back. I was referred to an australian company who have screws and if you spend X free shipping. There screws are the cheapest I've found anywhere.
I have no doubt there are better jigs than Kreg. Which suit you best depends on your application. I have the little 2 hole version because I can clamp it easily to 8x4 sheets to edge join them. It's easier to bring teh jig to the work in that case. To each their own.
Looking for 1" pocket hole screws
