I'll do another big write up of this semesters progress sometime soon...it will be a BIG write up haha.
Basically have been developing a 'form' for the last 7 weeks, making scale models, 1:1 scale prototypes, testing, experimenting...to finally have arrived at a final design
I'll put some images and a write up, up in a week or so. But I'll have to admit...it isn't going to be made of timber Going to have to learn to weld for this oneBuy the best tools you can afford and you'll only cry once...

Would you be able to post up other peoples projects? I was looking to attend the uni next year and was wondering what other people had made.
Your projects look great by the way.

Hi Rhys,
guys i've held that saw. the handle is really great. super plain but it is a treat to hold, the lines are spot on and the finish is great, I just could put it down.
As for the box rhys, its is a nice box to be sure but you'll always struggle to find a market for a $100 box. tourists, etc. There are plenty of people who will buy a $100+ box, but has to be a bloody good. and marketed well.
Looking foward to seeing your "form" ....
Enjoy and hope your footy team is winning ... at least one match.Steven Thomas

Joosh I'll have to ask the students about putting up some pics of other students work. But I'll see what I can do
Hey Steve, the saw is still going strong...has been getting a lot of abuse lately, been cutting dovetails recently for a drawer project.
Yeah I am not sure if the boxes will be pursued...this sememster has been flat out, haven't been struggling, but have been busy each day.
The form will be revealed soon :P
Footy season unfortunately ended last weekend, lost our semi final But we came second overall, and I managed to snag Runner-Up Best and Fairest So was a good year overall.
I'll try put up some pics this week
Cheers

Well...its been a while :P
I'll be sure to put up a pic or 2 of my projects from second semester last year tomorrow.
Back into the swing of things, uni is back, few assessments, development has already started on my next piece. A hall table.
Hoping to keep the material costs down under 400, and would love to try get a few in an exhibition.
But no further info in the Hall Table :PBuy the best tools you can afford and you'll only cry once...

Sorry, had a music festival yesterday.
Here are a few pics attached.
Few quick details:
Made of 10mm clear acrylic/perspex.
3mm black elastic.
All CNC cut and drilled, assembled/glued by hand (all outsourced)
Pretty much I designed this piece, but due to my choice in material I outsourced the manufacture of it, which is all good with this particular subject in the course. As much as I wanted to make it myself, it was simply not feasible for me to (time constraints, etc).
This coffee table draws inspiration/precedence from a roof structure I found in town. It uses straight lines to generate the illusion of a curve, also known as a parabolic curve (parabola).
The study is going good, full steam ahead into my next piece, have 7 weeks to design and manufacture a piece containing 3 drawers, thats the only design constraint, so I am going to be using the CNC for this piece, keeping it all environmentally friendly, but I am trying to keep it all underwraps until I finish itBuy the best tools you can afford and you'll only cry once...
