assembling a tsc10hb
Had a hell of a day yesterday !...
My new toy arrived .
First off, I assembled the mobile base around the body and got that all set up. Not a problem, took a bit of fiddling but fairly straight forward.
Next came the tables. Lots of grease paper with Grease solidified all over the place so spent the next hour or more cleaning it all down.
Finally came time to attach the wings. Now this is the table with the router wing from carbatec WA. I remember seeing it on display at carbatec with the router wing on the left of the machine, but the carbatec website actually says it is a replacement for the right wing. So first off, I attach it to the left, then decide I need to attach the router plate fittings first and check whether the router will sit under it. It quickly became clear that the Triton router is a big beast and would probably not peacefully co-exist with the blade angle adjustment wheel. It therefore seemed the left side was not the correct spot.
I then thought, well carbatec website says it should be on the right and there was no wheel on that side (remember, at this stage I had not wound down the motor or attached the door).
So I spent a lot of time attaching the wings, checking for flatness, taking them off, adding some shim tape, putting wings back, checking some more, taking off, adding tape, removing tape, adjusting tape etc etc.
Finally everything was aligned to my liking. I then attached the fence rails.
I then opened a box wondering what it was, ... lo and behold, it was the motor cover. I thought ooh, that looks big. Put it on, it barely fits under the router wing, theres obivously no way you could put a router on with the motor down or the door on. Swear, curse and spit the dummy.....
So basically theres no way you can have the router wing on the right hand side. Too bad the instructions weren't any more explicit than "attach wings to table" !
Pull everything off again. Got the wings back on, with the router wing on the left hand side and aligned again last night before I quit from a very sore back and extreme hunger. I had been going on this for quite a number of hours buy this stage. seems ridiculous I know. Time fly's when your having fun.
Have to go out tonight, so hopefully the rails and fence etx will go on ok tomorrow. I am hoping if I take one of the hand grips of the router it will be ok to attach to the router wing on the left hand side. Otherwise I have to take the router off everytime I want to adjust the blade angle....(or buy a smaller router!).
Anyways, heres looking to actually start the machine tomorrow!!!.
I should have taken some pics, but I was too engrossed in the problem!..
cheers

Maybe you should sell it and buy a Triton

Your problems have been discovered before, thankfully for me it was before the assembly stage.
I suggest you swap the cast iron wing with the Veritas Router Plate attached to a piece of ply fitted between the rails on the right hand side.

Well here it is in all its glory.
I have managed to attach a Triton router to the wing, with the wing on the left hand side of the machine.
I had to take the handle off the router to get it to fit, but after that it sits fine, in fact its perfect.
Did my first test cuts today and I was amazed at how quiet it is compared to the triton, even cutting some 200mm * 50 mm jarrah it was so quiet I didnt even come close to needing earmuffs.
The triton router is sitting perfectly in the router wing. The table is dead flat.
All I can say is I love my Tsc10hb !!!!!!!!!!
I will now have to drill some holes in the wing to be able to do Sturdee adjustment for the extension table, but that shouldnt be too much of a drama.
Just had Gazaly over my place where I got to show it off. He was suitably ****** off
cheers
