Can anyone assist with BRIS-to-MELB Freight Advice?
Hi folks
I recently won a brilliant dust extractor which will assist our little enterprise in Kilmore to get back up and running post-Black Saturday. The trouble is that to get it from Samford in Brisbane, to Kilmore it is going to break the bank.
I am hoping someone on our forum might know an individual or firm who could transport it down to us. Importantly, we are NOT asking for a freebie, but if someone knows anyone with spare capacity who is travelling down, or a firm with a reputation for charging fairly I'd love to hear back. The unit is 1.8 high, and aprox. 800mm square on the base ... and weighs around 40 kilos I reckon, as I had no trouble at all lifting one side up. Any guidance much appreciated. Thanks!Steve

Steve
Pity it was not a couple of weeks ago as my son and his family moved from Brisbane to Ballarat 10 days ago and I am sure we could have added it to his lot.
Not much help to you now though.
They used Kents so it might be worth giving them a ring to see if they are bringing anyone else down soon.Tom

Freight Bne. to Melb.
You will have to do some talking to get a good deal. It's in a big box. Courier services charge by the cubic kg and the dimensions you show put the weight for freight calculations at 288 kg. On that basis it will cost an arm and a leg, probably more than buying a new one locally. I can't offer any suggestions other than to approach furniture removalists and plead 'poor' as a bush fire victim.

There in an online courier called e-go whose rates are reasonable but make sure it is packed well and insured as I have had some damage items on arrival.

We have a guy who picks up native plants on his way through down from Brisbane to Victoria for the nursery I work for. I don't know his charges but he could be a candidate. I'm not sure how often he's doing it now though.I remember he delivered in Kilmore the day before Black Saturday, but I don't know if natives plants are that popular down that way since the disaster - they got a bad rap. I'll ask some questions and get back to you on it.
