What is Butt Pine? Never heard of it.

it's from the rear end side of trees

I to Google Butt Pine and I too can't find any mention of the timber so I'd say maybe its Blackbutt Hardwood.

As for where it comes from there's no mention of that.

It's just sawn used timber.

I did some googling and found blackbutt at $5800/cube for 135*32mm 'standard and better' grade decking and $7600/cube for 140*45mm F27 structural

Taking a rough average of $6500/cube puts 150*40 at $39/metre, so just over $250 for 6.5m lengths.

Of course, this is assuming that the timber is actually Blackbutt and not something else.

EDIT: Also, does "used" mean full of nails? Cos they're gonna be an absolute s*** to remove from old Blackbutt, so take that into account.

May have to pick another name. Butt cut usually refers to the first log above the roots of any specie. A better photo could help.

Sure its not Putts Pine - Flindersia acuminata (silver silkwood / silver maple) ?? Nice timber to work.

That price equates to $12.82 per linear metre; about what local Bunnings charges for untreated radiata framing timber - MGP10:

• 140 x 35 - $11.50 lm,
• 140 x 45 - $14.90 lm.
• Average - 140 x 40 - $13.20 lm (My calculation!)

Most other timbers, eg Tasmanian oak, are at least double the price of radiata. And your photo looks more like a hardwood than a pine.

I use a lot of repurposed timber and nail holes and small blemishes are not a problem. I just make plugs from the same timber using a Veritas plug cutter, drill out the nail hole and glue the plug in place aligning the grain as far as possible. Repairs are rarely obvious, and most people seem to like them.

Good news I got 10 - 6.5m lengths of 140 x 50 and 37 - 6.5m lengths of 140 x 50 for $2004.00 and now to hire a 6m flat bed truck with a hydraulic crane for $340.00 to collect the timber.

6 months ago I bought a cottage with a granny flat that was built in 1968 and I plan to replace 5 door frames and 7 window frames. Not because I really need to but just because I want to. Next up is to buy a bench type saw that I can use to make some into thinner planks and a wood thicknesser would be handy.

There's way more timber than I'll ever need and I live in Rubyvale on the Gemfields Qld and there's always folks building miners cottages and this stuff I can sell latter for a nice profit.

Well done. When you clean up and dress one piece, how about a good photo and see if anyone can identify the timber?
