Default Australian Furniture-A Pictorial History and Dictionary 1788-1938

Australian Furniture-A Pictorial History and Dictionary 1788-1938

Would anyone on these forums have a copy of this book please?
After seeing a box that Hermit made, that is similar to an heirloom that my daughter has, I decided to chase up some more information about the maker. Apparently, he is referenced in this book.

If you have the book, or access to it, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. I'd like to find out any information in it about H. A. Nielsen, a Danish carpenter and cabinetmaker who lived and worked in Mossman, Cairns & Port Douglas, Qld., in the late 19th and 1st half of the 20th century. Also, if you happen to have anything made by him I'd be interested in seeing photos. He did extensions and repairs to the Port Douglas court house, and built the old St. Mary's church in Mossman, and was well known for his fine inlaid boxes.

    Many thanks.

I remember coveting this book some years ago, but with a price of $600 at the time it just wasn't going to happen. I notice the the price has dropped a bit $485. I'll just have to wait another 20 years or so and maybe the price will get down to something I can afford.

Hope you have some success finding a copy to view.

    Hi Alex,
I notice another member has sent a PM so maybe this is unnecessary.

My council library have several in their reference collection and one the branch I frequent. Let me know if I can help with a visit on your behalf.

There may even be one in you local council or state library too.

Thanks Dabbler, Jeremy has kindly sent me the relevant pages. When I get the info all together I'll post it on the box forum.
What got me started was wondering what a fine craftsman was doing in far north Qld in the 1930s. The story just became more interesting from there.
