Default Auto On Dust Collection Options

    Hi Folks,

I want my dust collector to automatically turn on when I start my Tablesaw or other machinery that its connected to. I've seen the iVac system but it seems abit pricey for what it is so I thought I'd ask the WWF for any alternatives or suggestions.

    Thanks for any help!

    Sam

Thanks for the reply, there's no pricing on the Vacuum Cleaner Control Unit sadly.

It's very new, I haven't worked out the price yet. I'll try and get that done in the next couple of days.

I saw this on a video recently and thought it looked the goods - Sydney Tools

A bit on the pricey side but based on appearances it does what you need. If it attracts interest, Chinese knock-offs will bring the price down.

Thanks for the reply. Yep, according to the description its exactly what I need. Like you said price is abit steep but
its cheaper than most I've seen. I've searched Amazon with my very limited searching capabilities but haven't found anything like it?....

Does the dust collector need to be left in the on position?, my dust collector doesn't allow for that.

Ok so I'm pretty confused when it comes to switches. From what I can gather my dust collector, in fact most of my machinery have a kind of momentary magnetic switch, so you cannot simply power the machine up simply by turning it on by the mains.

Is there a way round this?, where by switching the DC on can be done via the wall socket?.

in my previous shed I had 2 floor vacuums, 150mm pipe dropping down to almost floor level and an MDF shroud around the base, granted it used a manual control blast gate but I could turn on the dusty from anywhere in the shed using one of these https://www.arlec.com.au/wp-content/files/RC10.pdf simple and easy

Not exactly Auto on, but using Bluetooth devices next to both Saw table and Router to switch the shop vac on works pretty well. My Ryobi shop vac will do an auto switch on but it is low amps only and doesn’t handle the initial startup draw from my table saw. The answer for me was these natty little remotes I’ve Velcro’d next the the start/stop switches.
Pretty easy to install and always where you want ‘em.

Just fond out the name of the switch that's on my dust extractor, its called a No Voltage Release switch, or NVR switch for short. Apparently this has to be bypassed first.

Sadly none of the suggested remote's will work until my dust collector has been converted. See
video if confused like I was:
