Avoiding rust on the vice
I have just installed a JET metal woodworking vice, and would appreciate advice on the best way to keep the rust off the shiny posts (two guide posts and a threaded rod).
I live in the very wet and humid tropics, where rust is a constant pain.
Also, what would you recommend for keeping the shiny upright stand on the drill press free of rust, so the table can slide smoothly up and down?
regards,
Jill

I use a lanolin spray (sheep grease) like Lanotec to keep rust off tools etc. Just a very light film is all you need.
Cheers

The lanolin should be good, or try camelia oil. For woodworking, stay with the naturally occuring oils to minimise stain pickup on timber from contacting protected metal parts.
