    Default MUST SEE: awesome skill.

These are two must see videos on an absolutely incredible skill called Yosegi Zaiku

    YouTube
    YouTube 2

Ignore the language (I watch a lot of Japanese stuff) it isn't important, it's the videos.

Even if it isn't your cup of tea, if this doesn't absolutely leave you in awe as woodworkers, I don't know what would.

Here is another one in considerable detail: Yosegi -

This reveals a great deal of the setup and fidly alignment and a few jigs.

Man, this detailed work is awesome. I was amazed at the skill in Des Kings kumiko and this is another unbelievable craft straight from the 16th century.

I was going to start a thread, but I think I can go to the other end of the stick on craftsmanship here ...

Alaska Chainsaw Mill, Log Wizard and a Launcelot in an angle grinder come to mind.

Gotta love their attention to all the right safety kit. Shirt? Shorts? Done.
What's on the Stihl? 36-40" bar?
In all: the right tools, lots of experience and they make it look so simple.

I saw the demo (and bought the box) in the shop shown in Evanism's 2nd clip. Mind you, they do have some good machinery underneath the shop, too.
Further up the hill from there is another shop that sells some excellent marquetry, too.
