AWR Studio Furtniture
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone is looking to enter the Studio Furniture competition this year with Australian Wood Review.
I am looking at entering 2 pieces.
1, willl be a hall table with a unique top, and drawers, and finished in Liquid Glass.
2, will be an abstract display cabinet, using mixed timbers left over from my Yr 12 Industrial Tech Wood class this year, which I am teaching.
I will put up a new thread once I have started both pieces and show progress.

Thanks, just had a quick look before, I have no chance of winning, but I will still make my project (pair of Barstools out of either Tas. Blackwood or New Guinea Rosewood) and if I feel they are decent, will send in a few photos...

Went OK, got 88 (band 5) for the Workbench.
Missed out on Band 6 by 2 marks (90+), was pretty bummed bout that.
I have some better Ideas for these Barstools know...all will be revealed in a new thread soon...Buy the best tools you can afford and you'll only cry once...

Has anyone had a look at the 2008 entrants for the AWR Studio Furniture Comp?
Some good stuff there...
Just a silly question...how does Studio Furniture differ from 'normal' furniture?
Is more attention paid to the grain and selection of the timber and finish, so it looks good in 'studio' lighting?
Thanks RhysBuy the best tools you can afford and you'll only cry once...

Every thing should be prefect.
Design is paramount over utility.
Normally a one off, not a production run.
Very high quality.
Finish is super important!Steven Thomas
