Baby Cot
G'day. Our eldest and his wife are expecting their first and want me to build the cot. Can anyone help with Australian standards and ideas for the sliding side(other than the old standard style) and where to get them? They wish to share the finished product with our other seven kids so I need something pretty sturdy. Thanks!

I just finished making one. I have pics of it, but they might not help too much, if you have any other questions just ask and I can give details. I can upload a rough sketch of how I did it, but it's pretty self explanatory. (I think)
It was a lot of work....
The bearings are the same as used for a skateboard, and the thing glides for about 45 seconds with one push. I left two of the photos with details in high res so you can zoom.
I have no more pictures though because it's alreadyat its new home. The overall height is 950mm.
The mattress size was 900 x 450 which is pretty standard.
I made the cot 920 x 465 inside and it fit like a glove...
Good Luck,

here's a WIP of the cot I made
I made a cot a couple of years ago that conforms to Australian Standards. Here's a link to the WIP I posted.

Try here for the Vic safety standards online- should be similar through out Aus.

Find a cot that you like in the shop and take some photos and measurements as "it needs to fit in an alcove" then design it to your liking.
For the sliding mechanisms I tried Rockler in the States but they only sell sets with bed springs and won't seperate them so postage costs were extremly expensive.
I ended up using stealth fittings from crib parts & more They only sell over the phone but were very helpful and they arrived in less than a week.
