Bandsaw adjustments
I have a piece of timber fitted to the table of My AA Tyson Melbourne made Bandsaw where the blade goes through . It gets a bit rough and the gap around the blade grows now and then swallowing small off cuts . I patch it up and re level the top with the table by adding PlastiBond by Sellys . Its a good quality filler . I just had a bit of masking tape around the blade , shaved it down level with the top with scraper after two applications . Didn't take a picture before I fixed it up . They used to do this job with lead sometime back ?

Thought I'd show my little magnetic fence I made with two magnets about a year ago, a bit of walnut and some brass sheet. Its a great little addition and gets a lot of use. I only put the increments and the cut through the brass top the other day . I use it to just set a stop off the blade when ever I have multiples of lengths to cut like pegs or stops or home made dominos .

It also works real good when I'm ripping down the grain and want straight cuts. Straightest cuts of that saw with its 3/8blade Ive ever had.

I added the scribed 5mm increments each side of the blade cut that I did first. Ill see how that goes . Should be good for pegs and dowels.

Stronger magnets would be nice . It can slide if I'm not taking care . Doesn't matter with small stuff but it would allow larger work . I may try stacking two magnets in a stick each end and see if that works .

And for my larger bandsaw I wouldn't mind two of the large magnets with switches in a fence . The ones I like are strong but pricey . Magswitch MagSquare Magnets
I reckon it would be great . A good time saver and get a lot of use .
Anyone tried Magnetic fences ?
Ive seen big ones in the US like these. Bigger and stronger is what I need for the big saw.

If you want a really strong Magnetic switch mount, have a look at a Dial gauge Magnetic Base.
I use them to make Magnetic mount 10W 720 Lumens (small size) High power LED flood work Lights for the lathe, scroll saw and Bandsaw, far better than any of the low power crap that sells for much higher prices.
The Mounts cost around $45 to $55 in AU, slightly lower cost on ebay, seriously powerful even on sheet metal, on cast iron there almost immoveable.

Rob, try making a band saw sled, here is an Italian video YouTube, the bookmark is where he shows the sled but it is all worth watching. I can't understand a word but I could listen to him talk for hours. He is a professional wood worker and has other videos worth watching in particular one on machining small pieces safely. I have just finished making three different sleds for my saw then looked around the shed and saw the second one, rinse & repeat!

Thanks Mike . I had thought of those . Maybe I should try two first . They may be good enough . Those Yellow ones I linked look Killer though for strength . They go right up there in strength and price ^^
Its got to handle some decent timber. I rip big stuff on that big saw.

You could bolt a linear rail to the table edge, that would fix the problem.
2Pcs SBR20 Slide Guide Rod 650-2200mm Linear Rail + 4Pcs SBR20UU Bearing | eBay
Attach the bearing blocks to the underside of the sled and just put it on the rails. If mounted right for quick use of the bandsaw the sled could be lifted on the rails or even turned right over. It would take a couple of minutes with an angle grinder/hacksaw to modify the rail mount so the bearings can rotate axially on the rail then the sled could be lifted off the table and just hang down at the front of the bandsaw. I have just thought that up when typing and having a spare rail I might look at doing the same thing. The only gotcha is keeping the bearings clean enough.CHRIS

Rob, I use the Magfence and the Magswitch gear on my Hammer from time to time. Once set, it won't move, unless you are being an idiot.
Yes they are expensive, but the ease of use and versitility make up for the hit to the wallet.Pat

The Magswitch's are about a third cheaper on Amazon.com with S & H than they are on the au site. I have a pair of 95s and the 150s and neither has ever shifted

This morning I ordered two of these
Magswitch MagSquare Magnets
The 165 model has 68KG rating which is a little more than the standard magnetic base that Mcjing sell . Its got much better mounting options .
Im going to try two in a wooden fence and see if its strong enough for the job I want to throw at it . If its not Ill consider going bigger.
I use two of the Magswitch 150 in a pair of feather boards . I Love it . One day I want to convert my inverted router table to a steel top just because those feather boards are so good. I just use them on table saw and spindle moulder atm .
I cant find same 165 model on Amazon.com . The pricing looks ok though .
Comparing the 600 model the StoneX site will deliver two for $518 amazon.com is $478.18 delivered with tax collected BS
I did look on Amazon.com.au too . What the #### is going on with them ?? . Giant leaps in prices.
I was wanting a few books the other day on Windsor chairs . Did all the comparisons and the au site had the same book that I could buy in US for $50 for $500 !!
That sort of thing , which you see there more than once is the worst advertising stunt Ive ever seen .
