Bandsaw Drive Wheel Tyre Ryobi 9" EBW4023L
Hi Guys,
I usually haunt the metalwork forum, but I do have a little bandsaw that gets a lot of work. It's a cheapie I know but It does a great job for the little bits and pieces I make. I have replaced the sawblade some time ago and it has been tracking and cutting well until today when it stopped and I found a tyre had come off the drive wheel. The rubber tyre is totally wrecked and in pieces.
I googled a replacement on ebay and being a tight a*s, I was a bit shocked at the price of about $50 for a replacement in Urethane.
I have used urethane in the past for over 40 years so I appreciate it's value and endurance however--- My question is, where can I buy a cheapie pair of tyres in rubber or a cheaper material.
The current tyres have lasted at least 15 years and at that rate a new set will definately last me out in the workshop, so I will be happy with an inferior product (I think).
I'm also happy to buy something from Asia if it means economy.
I will appreciate any suggestions please.
Thanks
Brian

I had one of these, and I had the same problem. I finally went to a tyre repair shop and got an old inner tube from a scooter for nothing. I cut a strip from this (i.e. cut across the tube) that was continuous. I used it for three years like that and then gave it away. Last I heard it was still running well. I never had any problems with tracking the blade correctly.
When I first did this I didn't expect it to last but I surmised I still had the rest of the tube so could make more. But they were never needed.
I still have the remainder of the tube which you're welcome to if you want to pay the postage from Brisbane.

I suggest you replace both tyres while you are at it. The second one is probably well on the way to the grave yard too.
